To IOF-nations and other orienteering-addresses in the world.

INFORMATION ABOUT O-RINGEN CLINICS 17-26 JULY, 2002.

Now - 9 April - almost 12.000 competitors are entered to O-Ringen 38th 5-days-competition. One year ago at the same time we had 8.500 entered
participants to O-Ringen 2001.

Now 22 orienteers from 9 nations and 5 (!) continents have entered to O-Ringen Clinics. Israel, Turkey, Kenya, Canada, Australia and Poland have 3 participants each, and Slovenia and Ireland have 2 each.

The next deadline for entering to O-Ringen 5-days is 15 May.

About 20 June we send out information with more details about the program, competitions and transport to and from Sparresäter.

SportIdent electronic punching system is used at the competitions. Our experiences from 2001 Clinics are, that all of the clinics-participants hire SI-numbers from the 5-days-organizers. In this way it is easier to handle it.

About the program it is like usual a big "smörgåsbord" with lectures and exercises about most things which belong to our very rich orienteering-sport and makes it so interesting for all ages in our world, such as
- Technical orienteering-training, also for young orienteers
- Leadership, coaching and self-confidence
- Course-setting for difficult and simple courses and for relays.
- Mapping
- Relay
- Ski-OL, Mountainbike-OL, Pre-OL and Rogaining
- Publicity, media and development
- Sightseeing, shopping (orienteering-equipment for good prices),
feedback and parties
- Blood-doping

The latest program-point is new for the O-Ringen Clinics. As everybody knows it has come very much in focus recently after the Winter Olympic Games. Björn Ekblom - world wellknown professor of physiology - "discovered" blood-doping about 1970 and he will inform about that. Björn has earlier also been Swedish orienteering-champion and runner and coach in the Swedish national team.

Other wellknown teachers are Carl-Henry Andersson and Magnus Nilsson about course-setting, Jonas Eklund, Kenneth Kaisajuntti and Perola Olsson about mapping, Rickard Ekman and Henrik Erickson about publicity, Sture Sporrong about Pre-OL, ex-world-champions Arja Hannus (Ski-OL) and Kent Olsson (selfconfidence) and the Swedish national team coaches Göran Andersson, Marita Skogum (also ex-worldchampion) and Lars Andersson.

You are very welcome with new entries to O-Ringen Clinics, if you have lost the first invitation you can find it on WWOP homepage www.wwop.se
